Pros and cons of Dirr's Tree and Shrub Finder app for iPhone and iPad

Dirr's Tree and Shrub Finder app good for

I own the Woody Landscape Manual and would reccomend this app as a useful tag along. However it is also useful for landscapers and horticulturists who want a quick reference guide in there pocket. I only wish there were more Programs like this one! Though the price may seem high it is worth it for students of horticulture.
I think this app is really extremely good. The information is first-rate and the app is really easy to use, excellent for someone who needs to get accurate information quickly. However, I have to confess that Im a little disappointed that there arent photos for every one of the plants in the finder. A picture is worth a thousand words...especially if you dont happen to know that particular species.
I am a landscape architect and Dirrs Manual for woody landscape plants has been an essential resource since university. This app essentially provides the whole book in a searchable format, great value.
This app is great and totally worth the 10.00. I work in a nursery and find this app easy to use, with up to date info. So glad I dont have to pack my referance book everywhere now!
This app is wonderful! It is a great alternative to my thick Dir reference book and is much handier when out in the field. It is also easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes trees or wants to learn more about them. Great for students too!
Great package with high practicality and usefulness as a field guide. Far superior to the hardcover textbook which costs 10x what this app does and lacks colour pictures and a searchable format. I am a student of horticulture and am completely satisfied with this app purchase. Now just waiting on native iPad support!

Some bad moments

App seems to frequently hang in Search mode. Not nearly enough plant photos - you have to toggle back and forth with a browser to search for pics of plants of interest. The app blocks copying words on screen, which means every search term outside the app has to be retyped. Needs lots of work.
Was an early advocate of this app when I first downloaded it in 2013. But without any updates since it was first written, there is no way I can recommend it or even use it myself anymore. Get on the ball, Timber!
Got a iPad for Christmas, and being in the landscape industry I was wondering if any of Dirrs books would be an app. Looks like I got the iPad at the right time. Dirrs books to the nursery and landscape business are the gold standard. I feel honored to be the first to review.
This is what I have been waiting for and will give me the best reason yet for an iPad ( although not sure if this is an iPad app too) Works great on the iPhone. Combines the Dirr manuals and puts them in your shirt pocket.
I like this application for what it is, but I like it more for what it could be. The price is a bit much for the limited photos but I EXPECT the to be added through updates.
Ive worked in the horticulture industry for a number of years now and am quite familiar with Dirrs "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants". This volume has been indispensible to our companys nursery workers since it contains a wealth of information which is not readily available through a simple internet search. It was, therefore, my hope that the app would provide a similar bounty... and it does! I was delighted to find the original material by Mr. Dirr augmented by color photos and an easy-to-use interface. This is like having the "Manual" in my pocket! Ive been showing off the app and recommending it to anyone who will listen!
